Hub by Premier Inn King’s Cross London

This was our first time in a hotel run by Premier Inn and I can say I was impressed. When looking for a place to stay close to St Pancras International on Euston Road, I looked at three other Premier Inns close by but in the end opted for the more modern styled Hub, thanks also to the reviews and the price. In fact when I looked up what were the best hotels in the UK, the Premier Inns scored very well.

Leonardo Express

Another short review about the best way to travel between Rome’s airport at Fiumicino and central Rome at the Roma Termini railway station. I have used this service virtually every time I am in Rome and I cannot fault it. It’s not cheaper than catching one of the bus services that run the same route to Roma Termini. If time is important the Leonardo Express is the best solution as the buses take about twice as long to get to Fiumicino and traffic can be a problem depending on the time of day. The perfect carry-on backpack with plenty of space Preparing for my recent trip to Italy I was in two minds whether to take my current backpack, a Slavenger bought in Singapore used many times or go for something slightly bigger. Meininger Roma Termini

This was my third visit to the Meininger Roma Termini hotel. Like in the past I enjoyed my stay. Here are some details… Location The location of the hotel is one of the best reasons to stay here. It’s in a safe area close to many amenities. The Roma Termini railway station central to much of Rome’s public transport: fast trains, regional, suburban, metro and buses, is 5-7 mins walk away; Castro Pretorio underground station a hundred or so metres; and the CONAD City Supermarket 200 metres down the road in Piazza dell’Indipendenza where you can acquire food to be prepared and consumed at the hotel. My first experience with Uber

I don’t usually catch taxis (cabs) on my travels, whether it is going to and from the airport or for general transport between places I visit. I tend to always catch public transport when it is convenient. However with luggage in tow not all public transport is suitable. Trains from airports to central stations are fine. Most places I’ve visited have this well sorted and just to name a few: Athens, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Singapore, Hong Kong… I have caught taxis too in the past in Barcelona, Hong Kong, Rome…, but I think unless they are the only option I now have an alternative. The Worst Seat Imaginable

Yes, I finally had the opportunity to score the worst seat on a long haul flight. How did this happen? I took a gamble by switching seats before my recent long haul flight from Singapore to Rome with Singapore Airlines. Why did I do this? I don’t usually write reviews on restaurants and cafes in my home city but I was compelled to write one this time for a couple of reasons. It was my wife’s birthday and she wanted to go out somewhere to have a bite and spend time together and talk over what had transpired in the previous few days. Rosedale Hotel Kowloon, Hong Kong

Relaxing Stay in Mong Kok My second stay at the Rosedale Hotel Kowloon, this time without my family. I contacted the hotel direct and booked like previously. Was given a Superior Room on the 26th floor. My four night stay was in late March 2019. Getting There On this occasion I was able to catch the K5 shuttle at the Kowloon MTR station as my flight from Singapore arrived on time and during daylight hours, so there was less chance of missing out on a shuttle. Rosedale Hotel Kowloon, Hong Kong

Comfortable, Modern Hotel Stay Hong Kong This was a family trip to Hong Kong and I originally wanted all of us to stay on Hong Kong Island as I did the year before when I was there on my own, but as it worked out staying on the mainland close to Mong Kok was a good idea. Plaza Singapura, Singapore

My favourite shopping complex in Singapore which I visit regularly. Its close proximity to where I usually stay in Singapore makes it easy to get to. I take the MRT from Bras Basah to Dhoby Ghaut, one stop on the Circle Line, walk upstairs through B1 and B2 and you’re into the mall. All the eateries are in B1 and B2. Other places to eat are in the Atrium which is connected to Plaza Singapura on several levels, starting from the ground floor. Both the Atrium and Plaza Singapura face Orchard Road. Leonardo Express

Efficient and hassle-free train service This is not so much a review, as I’ve done that twice before, but some comments and pointers. Just so to know, I have used this service for many years and continue to use it every time I arrive and leave Rome. It’s not the cheapest, but I find it to be the most efficient and hassle-free. Smooth Hotel Rome Termini

Clean, Comfortable, Modern Stay in Rome Decided to try a different hotel when departing Rome for Singapore instead of the usual Hotel Corona in Via Napoli where I have stayed several times before when leaving Italy. Smooth Hotel Rome Termini is in the opposite direction and a little farther away from the Termini Station than the Hotel Corona, but I was glad to have tried this hotel. I enjoyed my short stay. Astor Deep Pan Pizza, Copenhagen

Very Good Cheap All You Can Eat Pizza & Salad We went past this place several times before we realised it was worth a visit. We had seen their ad in the Red Buses Hop-on Hop-off brochure, but what compelled us to eat here was the price of the lunchtime meal, all you can eat pizza and salad at DKK77 per person. The restaurant is located under the Astoria Hotel not far from Copenhagen central station. It’s not the flashiest place, but it was clean and it kept us out of the cold and rain. Le Mura di Lucca

The Symbol of Lucca The massive fortified walls and ramparts that surround the old town of Lucca are what sets it apart from all other Italian towns. It’s the symbol of this charming place. I never cease to enjoy a stroll here, even after many years of visiting Lucca. Definitely one of my favourite spots anywhere to relax. It’s great all year round for walks and jogging, but probably the best way to enjoy “le mura” is by bike at a leisurely pace. Bikes can be hired from several places. Singapore Airlines SQ278/SQ279, SQ324, SQ365

Flew six flights with Singapore Airlines over September, October and November 2017. Four of them as a family of four. The other two, with my son. All flown in Economy Class. All these flights, as I expected, were a pleasure to fly on. SIA’s product is consistent. Very little changes between aircraft types, the quality of service offered, the type of seats, how they are configured, the food served and the type of IFE.
