Routes: Adelaide-Singapore / Singapore-Adelaide

My first post in the Routes series and I’ll start it off with the international route I fly the most ADL-SIN/SIN-ADL, in other words, Adelaide International Airport (ADL) to Changi Airport Singapore (SIN) and back. Airlines At present only one airline offers this route in and out of Adelaide, Singapore Airlines. Singapore Airlines is part of the Star Alliance. In Australia Singapore Airlines codeshares with Virgin Australia. The Singapore Airlines flights are designated SQ278 (ADL-SIN) and SQ279 (SIN-ADL) and fly daily, all-year round. A second service runs only in December and January designated SQ276 (ADL-SIN) and SQ277 (SIN-ADL) and fly four times a week (Tue, Thu, Sat, and Sun). Schedule SQ278 Northern Summer: ADL 09:10 – SIN 15:10 Southern Summer: ADL 10:35 – SIN...

Singapore Airlines SQ278/SQ279, SQ324, SQ365

Flew six flights with Singapore Airlines over September, October and November 2017. Four of them as a family of four. The other two, with my son. All flown in Economy Class. All these flights, as I expected, were a pleasure to fly on. SIA’s product is consistent. Very little changes between aircraft types, the quality of service offered, the type of seats, how they are configured, the food served and the type of IFE. One bonus, the newer aircraft (Airbus A350) don’t have the annoying entertainment box (IFE) under one of the seats. A real relief. Here are the flights we took. SQ278/SQ279 These are the daily flights Adelaide-Singapore and Singapore-Adelaide. SIA operates the Airbus A330-300* with the 2-4-2 configuration in Economy Class and...

KrisFlyer Gold Lounge Terminal 3, Changi Airport

Acceptable But Needs Refurbishment Singapore Airline’s lounge for KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members. The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge in Terminal 3 is located on Level 3 above the shopping concourse between Emigration/Passport Control and Gates A1-A8. It is a very popular lounge and can get crowded at times. My suggestion? Be aware of the departures schedule and plan ahead, especially when there are several flights into Asia on A380s. The service is OK. The food is acceptable, but can become boring if you use this lounge regularly. Also considering the amount of people you’ll have to be lucky to time new servings of hot food. There are sandwiches, small cakes and nibbles as well. Coffee and tea and plenty of soft drinks,...

Singapore Airlines SQ365/SQ366

Good Consistent Service on Older Metal Singapore Airlines is my go to airline for travel to Rome FCO. I fly there with SIA once or twice a year and they have never let me down. Their cabin service in Economy has always been top notch and consistent. On this route: Singapore, Rome and vice versa they fly the Boeing 777-200ER. One of the older planes in their fleet. The B777 holds up reasonably well considering the seats and in-flight entertainment system (IFE) have seen better days. The seats are on the hard side (but compensated by using the cushion supplied) but are roomy in regards to width, pitch and configuration, which is the classic 3-3-3. SIA and a handful of other airlines still use...
