Great Pizza, Price and Service, A Bit of Napoli in Lucca

Been to this pizzeria twice now. I remember visiting a few years ago with a friend, a local, who recommended the place to me because they made true Neapolitan pizzas. Although the owner Renata is not actually from there but not far, on the other side of the Sorrento peninsula, Salerno.

The pizzas then were very good so this time I wanted to take my wife and two children there for lunch. It’s located off the beaten track, away from most of the tourist traffic in Via Fillungo and Piazza San Frediano. It’s a short distance around the corner to the right of the facade of the church of San Frediano, in Via Della Cavallerizza, 29.

We had three different pizzas and a plate of tagliatelle (pasta). Kids had Guizza natural mineral water, we had beer, a large Peroni Nastro Azzurro to share. The quality of the pizzas was excellent.

I mentioned to Renata there were too many to choose from. It was hard deciding which one. She agreed that she may have to cull a few off the list, but I think it won’t make too much of a difference. When you make nice pizzas it won’t matter.

Compliments to Renata and to her pizzaiolo. Price of the pizzas was also very competitive. Beats eating in restaurants where you’ll pay much more for pizza, pasta and drinks. I truly recommend this place. A little jewel away from the tourists, not to be missed. I’ll be back again.

Update: When I visited in January 2024 I found the pizzeria gone. It seems it has closed permanently.
