Great Sliced Takeway Pizza!
Had takeaway pizza here three or four times while staying at Hotel Corona in Via Napoli. Some of the best in Rome and well priced. Recommended not just by me but also by the stall holders from the street market in Via Cesare Balbo, round the corner.
The pizzeria is located at Via Agostino Depretis, 76. Not far from Santa Maria Maggiore, one of Rome’s four major basilicas and just down from the Viminale.
Update: been here again and again. Well at least once every time I’m in Rome either staying round the corner at Hotel Corona or if I’m passing through. My family has also had pizza here and no complaints. Drinks are also well priced. In fact they have specials which include drinks (soft/soda and beer).
Remember though, this is not a restaurant. You won’t be waited upon. You buy the pizza and sit down or stand. You can have it in a plastic dish or wrapped in grease proof paper, again to eat in. Of course you can take it away and eat somewhere else, but there aren’t many places where you can do that. Rome is notoriously unfriendly to those who want to sit down and eat on any kind of street bench. There aren’t any. So you either eat while walking, take it back to your hotel (if they allow you to eat there) or stay in, which is probably the best solution. The staff is friendly so there’s no problem here. Just make sure to clean up after yourself if eating in.
Anyhow the pizzas at Pizzeria Mediterranea are great. They are sold by weight, so you can buy whatever slice size you want. Those on display can be reheated, best though if you catch them out of the oven first off.
