Ilisia Hotel Athens

Ilisia welcoming, comfortable and well located
The hotel is located in a safe suburb of Athens next to the Hilton. It is also not far away from the Metro Line 3 (Aghia Marina-Athens International Airport) and the X95 Airport bus that runs on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
Close by are the National Gallery, War Museum, National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Megaro Moussikis – The Athens Concert Hall. Other places of interest closer to the centre of Athens (Syntagma, Plaka, Acropolis and Monastiraki) can be reached by buses and the Metro.
I stayed here in the second week of June for three nights. The room I had was a double (twin beds) as they had no singles. It was located at the end of the hallway on the first floor and had a balcony (terrace) facing Alios street. It was booked at the last moment and was given at a good price.
The room was clean and the twin bed comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side but it was clean and served its purpose. The air conditioning worked well and made the room comfortable, though the fan was a little noisy if run at top speed.
Soundproofing could be an issue but I think it is not intrinsic to Ilisia. I had next door neighbours who seemed only interested in partying, being loud and foul-mouthed. Obviously the hotel staff heard about this and they solved the matter promptly. So if there is a problem make it known at reception. The hotel staff will find a solution.
At breakfast, served from 7am, there was plenty to choose from: hard boiled and poached eggs, mini sausages, cold cuts, Greek yoghurt, butter, jams, peaches in syrup, cereals, breads, cakes, coffee, tea, juices etc.
In the lobby there was plenty of room to relax on the armchairs and couches. There was also free WiFi with good reception throughout the hotel. They also have off-street parking which I didn’t use but a friend of mine who was staying there did.
The staff at reception, Antonios, Yiorgos, Nikolaos and Andrea were all very welcoming and courteous. They all spoke good English.
Would I stay here again? Definitely.

Note: When I stayed, Ilisia was part of the Best Western chain. They are now independent.
